Why I Can No Longer Trust the NZ Police to Keep Me Safe

In the early hours of the morning of 2 March 2022 - in a police action that will go down in infamy in our history, and which has severely undermined public trust in New Zealand’s police - they descended upon the peaceful people while they were sleeping. There were hundreds of them and the majority had their badge numbers concealed with masking tape....

After witnessing, first-hand, the brutal attacks on innocent and mostly peaceful protesters at Parliament on March 2 2022,  my respect for, and trust in the New Zealand police have been severely eroded.

The level of violence perpetrated on Kiwis by the police was something I never, ever thought I would witness from police on their own people.

COMMENT: Very sad to watch the shock NZers have experienced regarding this hitherto largely concealed 'hand' of the forces employed to protect and serve the public. I saw decades ago that indeed Police brutality was a reality, reserved for certain ones, and done very covertly. Some of my peers won't believe this of course. But during the '70s I was told of instances where young Maori were picked up off the streets (no crime committed) and given a bashing in the cells ... confirmed for me in later years ('80s to be exact) by one of my lecturers at Uni who said he'd heard officers at parties boast of those activities. All covert of course as such activity generally is ... who would want the general public figuring this out? As they have now, with the beast baring its teeth in plain sight? And I heard of it again, not so long ago, similar activity in a small NZ town where evidence of their bullying one evening was erased by said officers via the removal of the surveillance cam footage on said premises. Mostly for recent decades when I have relayed such activity to folk, they simply haven't believed me. Perhaps now they will? And no... they're not all like it but definitely some are. TWNZ
